OK I PROMISE THIS IS THE LAST VY1 COVER FOR A WHILE. I GET IT, YOU'RE TOTALLY DONE WITH HER, I JUST HAD TO DO THIS ONE. Now you might be expecting a really good reason to upload such a short lazy cover. So I'll give it to you: I had the internal need to upload a VY1V4 cover of this song because 1) the song deserves it, 2) I wanted to upload a soft song for once to give this channel a little bit of diversity and "prove" that I can tune soft vocals (that's actually up to you, you'll be the one to judge if I did a decent work) and 3) because I also wanted to express my love to this song somewhere. (I understand if those excuses are not enough for you though) Can I just talk about how (amazingly) bizarre this song is for a moment? I knew this song before, but I never understood why it made people so emotional because I had only heard the first part and had no idea what the lyrics were. But recently I decided to actually listen to it completely and look up the lyrics and oh my... how little did I know, it became one of my favorites for many reasons. The melancholic tune goes extremely well with the meaning of the lyrics. But the magic of the song is the contrast between the theme and how it portrays it: You know it's all about death, the lyrics literally describe the process of passing away, yet the first part actually sounds a lot like a (really calm) lullaby, making it pretty weird already. And then the instrumental gets more and more melancholic towards the end, leaving you with a depressing feeling although the song never actually portrays it like something sad (it's a really weird feeling of hopelessness that could give the people going through difficult times some suicide thoughts... I mean the song doesn't make you want to die, I'm just describing the feeling, but it's ironic how that's exactly what the producer did a few years later unfortunately ...) Then I thought that a mature and calm voice like VY1's could make that effect a little bit stronger, and I think it actually kind of worked, and that's why I uploaded it! NOTE: I'm not trying to say having depression is "cool" at all. The reason why this song is so good is that it manages the theme in a really deep and complex way like no other song does. Please, never think that having suicide thoughts is cool or "quirky", that's just toxic and unrespectful for the people who suffer from that. And if you're going through something like that, get help. Also, I'm sorry for my last videos not using drawings of mine... I really don't have enough time to draw for my videos... Fortunately I could get a decent translation for this cover! I really thought the meaning was important for this one so I took the risk of adding them to the video. I know they aren't completely accurate, but at least they make some sense.
