Back on my bullshit with another NADDPOD fansong, this one about my beautiful thicc dummy Hardwon Surefoot! :D Not gonna lie, but Jake's enthusiasm for DND really made him a fantastic player to listen to. While Emily is something of a demonic metagaming force of nature, who knows exactly what she can do to make a situation more profitable, and Caldwell is an experienced DND player who is willing to do some buck fucking wild shit to mess with Murph, there's just something so endearing and enjoyable about the way Jake approached his (first ever in the history of ever) DND character and playing. We get a Hardwon in episode one who is so self-sure and so insistent that he's a badass and then, a few godawful rolls later, nah, Hardwon is a blowhard and tries to look cool. Now we've hit episode 95 (soon to be 96) and Hardwon is a mockery of toxic masculinity, this beefy dude who knows this powerful weapon he's gonna go get is for him, but still offers it to someone he thinks would use it better. He takes every hit and rolls with it and, while Moonshine and Beverly are well aware of his shortcomings and take steps to protect his fragile ego, he's so full of love and absolutely nothing else. This boy is moderately illiterate and not intellectual, but he knows people and he knows his own shortcomings and nothing in this world fucking decks me faster than Jake admitting that Hardwon looks to Moonshine for guidance because he knows he doesn't know what he's doing. Anyway, another ringing endorsement to listen to NADDPOD. And another point in my favor that, if I have nothing else to stave off depression, I will churn out content like a person possessed.
