I am not someone who can draw well, nor am I witty enough to leave a memorable chat or comment. Not wealthy enough to send superchats often either. I am just an extra, quietly enjoying the room from a corner of the hooman community. But to me, you were truly a huge presence. Not long after I entered graduate school, I hit the lowest point of my life. My relationship with my professor was strained from the beginning. The pressure of feeling like I was the only one who knew nothing here weighed heavily. It felt like I had been abandoned alone in the middle of a thick fog. My one and only refuge and hobby, songwriting, fell into a slump, difficult to create new songs. My friendships were falling apart, and unable to bear the stress, I even pushed away the few friends I had left, digging my own grave. I was in the midst of despair, standing close to death. It was purely by chance that I found a kronmei clip on YouTube. I had always thought I would never get involved with VTubers. But before I knew it, I was subscribed to your channel and started watching your streams. The way you talked so joyfully, letting out delighted sounds, the way you would rant passionately, the way you would sing perfectly even with a nervous voice, these moments began to fill most of my daily life. Because there would be a stream tomorrow, I could keep going. Even if there was not one tomorrow, there would be one the day after, or the next week, or the next month, and so I could still keep living. I still remember how you were at the beginning, with some of your nervousness still lingering. Even with your amazing singing skills, there were times you seemed unsure of yourself. When you hid your honest feelings behind a playful façade, I could relate, because I was the same. But you changed. Over these four years, you learned to show more of yourself. You stopped giving up in the face of difficult challenges. You became someone who could lead people with your ideas. You became someone who could express their true feelings, even if it was embarrassing. And all the while, I felt pathetic for not being able to change myself. I wanted to keep chasing after you, so I tried to change too. I tried to become a more proactive person. Even during the hardest moments, listening to your streams helped me keep going without giving up. I overcame my songwriting slump. I even gained a new dream: to one day write a wonderful Vocaloid song for you to cover. And even bigger than that, a dream to become a composer who could one day personally provide songs to you. I know it is impossible, but it became a powerful driving force for my music. You were the engine of my life. When I first heard the news of your graduation, I was once again at a local low point in my life. A friend I thought was close blocked me without warning. My social media account, which felt like my safe place, was suspended for no reason. My relationship with my professor was still terrible. I was drowning under the growing weight of meetings and schedules. And then, in the midst of all that, I learned about your graduation. In truth, I still have not been able to bring myself to watch your graduation announcement stream. I just could not bear it. I was too afraid to hear your voice, to listen to what you would say. I was heartbroken. Even if you only streamed once a year, I felt I could still live, just by holding onto that. Now, how am I supposed to keep living? I cried out in frustration, even though deep down I knew it was not your fault. It was just me being selfish. By the time I came to my senses, your graduation was already just around the corner. Rather than sadness, I wanted to tell you thank you. Rather than resentment, I wanted to cheer you on. There is so much I wanted to say, but I wasted the time left to despair. Oh, I even missed the chance to join the message book project. Now there is no way. I am sorry, but I still wanted to prepare a farewell that was just a little more special than the others. Honestly, I do not know if the result turned out well. I do not even know if you will ever come across this song. Still, even if only faintly, I hope this song spreads and touches someone's heart. Tomorrow will be your last stream. The day after tomorrow, next week, next month, you will not be there anymore. I have not figured out yet how I will keep living. But for now, I will keep trying to live. Carrying the hope that someday, I might meet you again. Thank you for everything. Because you were here, I am still here too. And now, it is my turn to bless your new beginning. From now on, and for the rest of your life, I hope you will be happy. #drawMEI #nanashimumei
