When I originally covered this song I thought it'd be something funny my friends and I could laugh about. Teto singing American Idiot. I never expected it to catch. I thought I'd still be trucking along, occupying my own little obscure corner of the internet, more or less entirely unnoticed. Now here I am half a year later with this amazingly supportive audience, tons of new friends made, and blessings too numerous to count. In a strange way this song became my brand. Of course I'd have preferred an original song to fill that role, but I'm not complaining. I had fun with this song. I still love my Teto I drew for it. It's special. So I wanted to treat it that way. I've learned so much over the last 5 months, both in production and vsynth tuning, and I wanted to give this song the makeover it deserves. All the guitars were retracked. Teto got a whole new voicebank and I've retuned the vocals from scratch utilizing all of the knowledge I've gained. I've adjusted the mix to bring it more in line with my covers of Boulevard and Wake Me Up When September Ends. This is now my definitive version of American Idiot, and it will be the version you hear on the full album when it releases next year. Thank you everyone for making this year one to remember.
