nominomu - 2026 (feat. Hatsune Miku)

well, i guess there's two reasons why this year sounds different from the previous two in the series. (this is gonna be a long essay...) one is just i kinda needed a break after luminous starfall (that was a bit of a huge project) and i didn't really have much motivation to make something as complex as 2025. so here's an exceedingly simple song with a total of 13 tracks (but i hope i was able to build an effective atmosphere anyway!!) reason two is more complex though, and it kinda has to do with the direction of this channel, and the direction of the world. i feel like with how i've been creating mostly vocaloid songs, i've been trying to take people to other worlds. the most obvious example is, well, elevator in another world, but even with songs like luminous starfall and hideout, one of the main goals of the song was to paint a picture of a scene that doesn't exist in this world (but might exist in something like anime, or a game or movie). but when i think of the title '2026', nothing really comes to mind other than the real world (after all, it's literally based on an event happening in the real world). and if i'm gonna portray the real world in a song, i don't think i can honestly portray it happily like i've done in the previous two songs in the series. this song is from the perspective of an outsider of earth commenting on humanity. the song isn't really meant to attack any specific group (otherwise im being a little hypocritical with the lyrics myself), it's more of a reflection of how humans and society have an unfortunate, innate tendency to cause conflict. with all that being said, i don't know how this series will play out in the future - if anything, it'll probably get quite boring if the song's like this every year. but for now, here's... _2026._ _why do we celebrate new year when each year is worse than the previous one?_ _for me in 2025, there's two reasons why i'm still going to this year's new year's eve event. one is that it's fun, by itself, and i like the music and atmosphere. no context of new year needed._ _the other is that there's still a small, *irrational* part of myself that truly hopes the next year will be better than the current one._ music, lyrics, video by nominomu vocals by Hatsune Miku V4X English background image by gus - https://unsplash.com/photos/a-blue-swing-set-in-a-dark-park-at-night-4kFifQuNYwo bpm: 96 genre: ??? lyrics are in pinned comment! download: https://mirlo.space/nominomu/release/2026-feat-hatsune-miku instrumental: https://files.catbox.moe/3jiim9.ogg #vocaloid #hatsunemiku #初音ミク
