In This Beautiful World feat. Kasane Teto Hello Friends, In music, the term "Scherzo" refers to a musical joke. This song is essentially a scherzo, with the musical humor that is melodramatic, eccentric, and whimsical. These traits are often found in the music of Haydn, who wrote very humorous music that were also compositionally innovative. Another source of inspiration were the Scherzos by Chopin, as they explore the full range of human emotions, and sometimes get philosophical. Although comedy was the intention, my message is sincere. Life can sometimes be shitty and even feel meaningless, but don't let that stop you from chasing happiness. Note: The first theme from Chopin's Sonata No. 2, 3rd movement is briefly quoted as a reference during the bridge, more commonly known as the "Funeral March." DISCLAIMER: Some scenes in this song were based off of the Paris protest from awhile back, where the police fired rubber bullets at protestors. However, this was not an intention to poke fun at France as I am a huge fan of French music/culture, but simply the acknowledgement that the world isn't perfect. I am well aware of the hate crimes and murder being committed right now in the US, and yes I am absolutely upset. However, this song was written and the scenes were drawn before those events, and any resemblance to what has happened in the past weeks is purely a coincidence.
