The word 'fold' here is also related to the science fiction term "folding space" as a means for space travel - The chorus was originally written for a different song in one of my other projects. It was going to be in a 7 minutes long Progressive Metal song where the chorus was in 7/4. It went well with the lyrics, but sounded too wonky. So that idea was scrapped and the chorus was changed to 4/4 for this song - I like to use joke titles to quickly remember certain riffs or melody ideas, which gets changed when I start the full production. This one's joke demo title was "Seven ways to cut pizza" - The final project file title became "Uneasy Surface", from the opening lyric "Ease the surface as I sink below" but I was not attached to it. I liked that the title started with an U. So after some brainstorming with a friend, we landed on Unsteady Vector - The lyrics are both serious and kept vague on purpose, as a change from the more comedic Ragebait song. The space-themed words and imagery was intentionally chosen to fit Saros' character
