This song focuses on the effect and devastation of war on innocent people. It was written from the point of view of someone who had barely survived the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki after World War II. Do not misunderstand, I hate what Japan did during World War II, but there are still many who wanted no part of it, and were unfortunately part of the 'enemy' just because they were born in the country. I was inspired to do this song after visiting the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Parks and reading the accounts of many children who slowly died horrific deaths. Whether or not the atomic bombs were the deciding factor to end the war, the horrific effects on the innocents have shown that nuclear weapons should never be used again, and it is sad that in this world many nations are still testing nuclear weapons even after knowing what they can do.
