3 Hours Later (ft. Kasane Teto)

I promise I'm not exclusively a Teto artist now... But it is fun though... I came up with the kernel for the chorus around Christmas and just had to make it! This one is a lot looser in its metaphors than the last one, because it's much more of a rambling train of thought, which i think is appropriate. I do like a lot of the composition I did here. Hour 1 Let's get the party started Nothing to it I'll take it as it comes Hit me whenever I know that I can take it and make it real And if I ever would have thought it were to crash and burn I would have run away So I think I've got this down just trust Something simple A parlor trick I've seen a thousand times before I know the steps to pull it off I just gotta execute But as I stand there at the ready I think there might be something That's keeping me here 'Cause 3 hours later I'm still here I'm bound by something maybe more than fear The crowd's eyes should make it feel more real Why do I dance with pants of steel Shuffling in circles round the floor I don't know where I started anymore Is this really who I want to be I feel the looks defining me Hour 4 I still know what I'm doing If I don't then how did I make it here at all to start with Am I a fraud or not I don't even know 'Cause I'm too busy running laps around the wheel To make a judgment anyway But it's okay I can see the eyes behind the veil I can't make out a concrete expression But nonetheless my common sense Is telling me how this ends Disappointment Always wishing I was something more than what I am An endless repetition I can never get myself to break 3 hours later I'm still here Will I still be here in 10 years Performance neverending Routine run its course End permanently pending Portrait got painted like a clown Complete communication breakdown Yelling across the room to no one All this time, got not a thing to show on Hour 7 Everybody's gone But I'm still locked in place A statue carved of shame Weathered all the same Hour 10 The cobwebs start to form But I remain steadfastly Rotting on the stage Rusting in my cage And as the clock turns to 11 The room might be more full If I'd never come here
