Tuning/Arrangement/Art/Mix/Vid: me :D After I finished 3.1, I cried so hard that I got a headache for the next several hours and also cried myself to sleep and also cried in the morning when I woke up. KuroGames, I will eat the front door to your office as compensation. (For legal reasons, this is a joke). Onto the song details. I had two things I wanted to add to my arrangement/interpretation: grief and parenthood. They go hand in hand. For grief, I pulled a short melody from Ciaccona's song. Hopefully that doesn't disqualify me because it's not from 3.1, but I think it's an important addition. "Birds, please, send this song to the souls who are weighed down by grief yet find the strength to believe." Across the Roya Frostlands and Rinascita, it's a gentle reminder that loss doesn't have to be experienced alone, you know? (Oh, Aemeath, you... I miss you, too). For parenthood, I included a line from a old poem I memorized growing up: "Công Cha như núi Thái Sơn, nghĩa Mẹ như nước trong nguòn chảy ra." Admittedly, I had some trouble translating it off the top of my head because my vocabulary in both languages is lacking. I think it's like, "A father's love rivals the tallest mountain, a mother's love is as boundless as an everlasting spring of water." Given the lengths Rover went to save Aemeath, it felt fitting. All Rover VAs gave such amazing performances! They nailed their portrayal of a parent chasing after their child in hopes of saving them. As for me... Ba, you'll never see this, but I didn't forget. I picked this song out of the EP selection because it resonated with me the most. It's so playful and bright, full of of skips and leaps. Which is a total contrast to the lyrics that, I think, can be interpreted as a beautiful and poetic response to death in addition to it being a fantastic character song. Grief feels like an eternal winter, and I would be lying if I said just looking up at the night sky alone would suddenly make everything better. As if asking for their whereabouts would do me any good when I know I'll never see them again. What use is it holding onto all these unsaid words, folded and tucked away in unsent letters? Everywhere I go, I see their shadow and the memories they left behind in a shimmering afterglow. But time moves on. Petals fall. Snow melts. Winter becomes spring, and out come the chirping birds again, ready to hop around with new life. Just like the melody. In the end, all we can really do is move forward, even if we can only see the endless void ahead. I think if we share some of our bright memories about the people we love, we can put them all together like little stars and light up the night sky. While it doesn't make the frost go away, at least they'll be reminders that spring will arrive all the same. That's how I see it, at least. Many thanks to my dearest for helping me balance volume!
